Best Lens for Cataract Surgery


 If you are ready for cataract surgery then at first you must know in this surgery your doctor will place a new artificial lens inside your eye. For sure you have to know about the lens,  which lens will be best for you. After all, you have to choose the best lens for the rest of your life. As we are talking about the lens, 


There are 3  types of lens available 

  • Monofocal lens
  • Multifocal lens
  • Trifocal lens

What is lens?


The lens is a transparent medium that has at least one curved surface. The lens is the most important part of the eyes. 

During cataract surgery, your doctor will place a clear artificial lens inside your eye to sharpen light particles as they move through your eye.
Most of the lens is made of silicone or acrylic. These lenses are also coated with materials that protect us from damage caused by the sun's rays.

As you must discuss with your eye surgeon which lens will be best for your eyes and your vision. You have several choices of different types of lens. So, you must discuss this in detail.


IS Monofocal lens right for you?

Monofocal is a single focus lens. It is the most common lens. This lens will focus only on distance. It means you can clearly see a distant object. But for near vision, you have to wear glasses. If you are ready to wear glass for near vision then it will be the best lens for you.

There are different options for a monofocal lens. As this lens is working for a long time. Basic lens are 

  •  Hydrophilic lens
  • Hydrophobic lens
  • Square-edge lens- It is preferable
  • Aspheric lens - This lens is good for night vision, UV light, and Blue light filter it is also preferable.
  • Preloaded lens - It is an automatically loaded lens so, it will be safer because it is not necessary to open and fold it. 

 

IS a Multifocal lens right for you?

The Multifocal lens is for both near and distance vision. This lens does not require glasses in most cases. If you don't want to wear glasses and you want to see clearly. But this lens is only suitable for a person who does not have any other disease in their eyes like Diabetic, Glaucoma, Macular degeneration, or any other disease. This lens is also not suitable for people who drive at night. 

Now, The best candidate for this lens is a housewife or Retired person.

IS a Trifocal lens right for you?

The trifocal lens is for Near, Distance, and intermittent vision( computer work, Laptop work).
But this lens is also not suitable for a person who has any other disease in their eyes like Diabetic, Glaucoma, Macular degeneration, or any other disease. And who drives at night is also not suitable for this lens.

This lens is only for Housewives and Retired people who want to do computer work without glasses.
